The Hoosier RCES has been selected as the spec tire for 944 Spec, American Iron, Camaro-Mustang Challenge, Spec Iron, and Spec E46.

It was brought on by changes in the racing tire market. NASA conducted extensive tire testing, which included various manufacturers throughout the 2024 season. Based upon these tests, it was determined that the new Hoosier RCES tire would be the best fit for various spec tire classes.

Yes, the RCES was engineered with unique construction and compounds, each tailored to ensure optimal performance for each NASA racing class for which it was chosen. In other words, the compound and construction for Spec E46 can differ from those used for the other classes even though they are all RCES tires. These designs are intended to provide a consistent performance curve and increased durability demanded by spec-class racers.

The new-for-2025 Hoosier Spec Tire contingency program (administered by NASA, paid for by Hoosier Racing Tire) will award competitors racing in 944 Spec, Spec E46, American Iron, Spec Iron, and Camaro-Mustang Challenge with a generous amount of Hoosier “Victory Vouchers”.

Spec sizes for American Iron, Camaro-Mustang Challenge, Spec Iron and 944 Spec remain unchanged.


Spec E46 tire size will change from a 255 section width to a 245 section width for the RCES.

The Hoosier W2 will be the wet weather competition tire for American Iron, Spec Iron, Camaro Mustang Challenge, and Spec E46.

The Continental Extreme Contact Force (ECF) will be the wet weather competition tire for 944 Spec.

Yes, there will be a grace period in 2025 allowing drivers to compete on any remaining tires from the 2024 season during the first two events in each respective region.
